In 2013, I lost one of my good friends to a selfish act of violence. Months earlier, we held an impromptu shoot in her backyard with my old Canon Rebel. I look fondly on the memories of that day and am grateful for those precious photos. You see, photography is about more than just pictures—it’s about capturing authentic, once-in-a-lifetime snippets that make your story unique. Sometimes they’re all you have left.
